Back in 2022, our factory decided to upgrade from our old 50-loader to something with more muscle. After looking around and testing a few models, we ended up going with the LiuGong 862N—a solid choice with a 4.2-cubic-meter bucket that really ramped up our productivity. This thing runs on a Cummins QSL9.3 engine putting out 180KW.
The engine was made in March 2022 and is rated for up to 4,500 meters above sea level. Here at the mine, we’re working at around 2,600 meters, so no issues there.
For various reasons, we haven’t put a ton of hours on it—just 1,800 since it arrived.
Even with the light use, the engine’s holding up great—just a bit dusty, nothing a quick wipe can’t fix. At our altitude, you usually don’t see much engine strain, though winter definitely tests us. We get about three months of frost and sub-zero temps, but the 862N fires up smoothly every time. That’s the Cummins QSL9.3 for you—reliable and tough, even when the weather isn’t.
The engine’s got plenty of kick. When you step on the throttle, it responds without hesitation—it really makes you feel like you’re in control of a big machine. Matched with the LiuGong 60-loader chassis, it’s more than enough for what we do around here. Most of its work is loading raw material. The ore we handle is dense and heavy, but the 4.2m³ bucket powers through without breaking a sweat. No “underpowered” vibes here.
