The Torrential Rains Is Coming, Are Our Excavators Ready?

2022-11-29

As summer comming, many areas continued to rain, and Zhengzhou, Henan suffered a once-in-a-millennium heavy rainstorm, which brought huge losses to people's lives and property. So, how do we protect the excavator in a rainstorm? The editor here has prepared a conservation secret book, please keep it!

Park in a safe location

After stopping work, park the excavator on a high and firm place. Do not park the equipment in a place that is easy to collapse or slip to avoid accidents such as equipment being smashed or flooded. After parking the excavator, close the doors and windows tightly, cut off the power supply of the whole machine, and pay attention to check whether the fuel tank and hydraulic oil tank cover are tightly closed when parking.

So, here comes the question, if it is not avoided, how can we reduce the loss?

After the water level drops, the excavator must not be started, and the excavator should be hoisted to a safe position and cleaned. Afterwards, check and repair the various systems of the excavator.

Power part

①Remove the air filter: Check whether water enters the intake system. If there is water in the cylinder, disassemble the engine. Note that it is not possible to drain the water from the cylinder liner by rotating the crankshaft to avoid damage to the cylinder liner assembly.

②Check the oil: check whether the oil level on the oil gauge is increased, and check whether the oil contains sand and water. The best way to deal with it is to disassemble the whole engine and hang it down for repair. If conditions are not possible to achieve this, the machine will be partially disassembled, cleaned, and inspected. After cleaning, replace with brand new oil, oil filter and other maintenance products.

③Check the diesel tank: if water enters, first drain the water at the bottom of the tank, release the diesel in the tank and install it, and use it for cleaning after precipitation; flush the tank with a certain amount of pressure water, and then wipe off the water in the tank with a cloth For stains and mud, pay attention to the partitions and corners in the tank, and strive to be clean. Finally, flush the fuel tank with diesel; remove the low pressure pipe and return pipe from the fuel tank to the fuel pump for cleaning, and dry them with compressed air.

Hydraulic system and transmission parts

① The hydraulic oil tank itself is sealed, if muddy water invades. Then drain the oil and water in the oil tank, and after the oil tank and pipeline are cleaned, add hydraulic oil and replace with a new filter element.

②Loosen the oil drain screw on the hydraulic pump. If there is no water in the discharged oil, check the control valve and various parts (including the hydraulic oil radiator). If there is still no water, you can confirm the main pump, high pressure oil circuit and All working devices are normal.

Electrical components and electrical wiring

①Remove the starter motor, generator and meter and other electrical equipment from the excavator, clean it with diesel, and bake it dry.

②Check the electrical wiring and electrical connectors of the whole machine for rust, damage, etc., polish the rust or replace the relevant parts.

③Finally, start the machine to check whether there is an alarm, and debug whether each work of the excavator is normal.

Tips:

After the construction, be sure to park the excavator in a safe place with higher terrain, do not approach the mountains and rivers that may collapse, and do not park in the place that may be submerged. At the same time, make sure that the excavator has sufficient oil and can start evacuation at any time;

Be sure to turn off the main power switch of the equipment when the excavator is stopped;

In case of flooding, be sure not to start the equipment, and do not turn on the main power switch to avoid greater losses.
