The Difference Between A Excavator Engine And A Car Engine?


What's the difference between a car engine and an excavator engine? They look similar. Can they be used interchangeably? Generally speaking, the application principle of automobile engine and engineering machinery engine is different because of different use environment and conditions.

Car engine:

in daily life, our requirements for cars are fast, smooth, and can cope with temporary bad road conditions; In addition, the cooling condition of automobile engine is more complex, and it needs to face long distance uphill and downhill, so it has strict requirements on emissions and noise, and higher requirements on the use of economic type. Therefore, for the vehicle machine we require good acceleration, large reserve power, steep torque curve, large reserve torque and other characteristics.

Excavator engine:

the excavator needs to keep running when it is working, and it also needs to deal with various complex emergent conditions, but it does not have high requirements for speed. Industrial machines require continuous constant power, more operating conditions, high reliability of continuous operation; Acceleration performance requirements are not high, basically are high-speed operation conditions, because there is no vehicle can be upwind cooling conditions, high requirements for cooling performance, low requirements for emissions.

According to the above engine conditions and use requirements

The two machines each have different characteristics

1. the calibration speed is different: the calibration speed of the automobile engine is high, because the vehicle machine does not often run in the high-speed area for a long time, but the industrial machine often needs to run in the high-speed area;

2. governor control is different: car resistance is predictable, such as: bad road surface, steep slope, etc.; In many cases, the load changes of excavators are unforeseeable. For example, in excavation, it is impossible to know what the underground geology or ground condition is, so the engine of excavators uses the whole governor control. Therefore, under the control of the traditional mechanical governor of fuel injection pump, the vehicle engine is controlled by the two-stage governor, while the industrial machine is controlled by the full speed governor. Although the acceleration response is not as flexible as the bipolar governor, the ability of the engine to overcome resistance is higher than the two-stage governor.

3. noise reduction needs are different: car engines have higher requirements for noise reduction. For noise, vehicle machines can often make an issue of muffler and noise shielding of exhaust gas emissions to reduce noise emissions. As long as the specified parts, the noise does not exceed the standard can be accepted. Excavator engine in this aspect is not strict, with the sound of rumbling, work to have strength!

4. the weight of the machine needs different: for the power and weight ratio of the machine, the car requires smooth driving, light, so the vehicle machine requires lightweight, in order to reduce the quality of the car, reduce fuel consumption. And the excavator because of the work demand for this requirement is not high, sometimes even need to increase the counterweight.
